Watercraft in Distress

The Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 5:21 p.m. following reports of a watercraft in distress. A mayday was transmitted on VHF channel 16, but the exact location was unknown. Possible locations included Broad Creek, Back Creek, Ape Hole, and Little Annemessex.

Marine 2 responded with Lieutenant Hinman and two firefighters. Station 6 remained on standby, awaiting further information from Marine 2.

Marine 2 and Maryland State Police Aviation Trooper 4 searched all the named areas. No watercraft in distress was located. The search lasted approximately one hour.

After completing the search with no findings, Marine 2 and Trooper 4 concluded operations and all responding units returned to service.
