The Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 6:38 p.m. for a reported structure fire at a condominium after smoke was seen coming from the third-floor balcony.

Engine 203 responded, staffed with Assistant Chief Cavanaugh and six firefighters. Ladder 2 responded, staffed with Lieutenant Hinman, and Rescue Engine 202 responded with Deputy Fire Chief Bradshaw. Station 3 awaited further direction from command.

Engine 203 arrived at the scene, where Assistant Chief Cavanaugh established command and began investigating, noting nothing visible from the exterior. Ladder 2 arrived and was directed to stage behind Engine 203. Ambulance A801 also staged.

Command reported smoke was coming from a small cooker on the balcony, with no fire observed. Rescue Engine 202 was directed to return to the station, and any further response from Station 3 and Station 9 was canceled. The situation was placed under control.

Command was terminated and all units cleared the scene, returning to service.
