Honoring the American Worker. Protecting Our Community Since 1874.

Labor Day is a time to recognize the dedication, hard work, and sacrifices of the men and women whose efforts have built our nation and continue to strengthen our communities every day.

On June 28, 1894, President Grover Cleveland signed the law establishing the first Monday in September as a national holiday honoring America's workforce. By that time, the Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department had already been proudly serving our community for 20 years.

For more than 150 years, we have stood ready to answer the call—protecting lives, homes, businesses, and our neighbors. Our commitment to service began before Labor Day became a national holiday, and it remains just as strong today as it was in 1874.

Labor Day has become a cherished tradition—a time for families and friends to gather, enjoy a well-deserved break from work, fire up the backyard grill, attend parades, watch fireworks, and make lasting memories with those they love.

As you celebrate this holiday, we encourage everyone to keep safety in mind:

*Never leave a grill unattended and keep it away from homes and combustible materials.
*Use fireworks responsibly and follow all local laws and safety guidelines.
*Never drink and drive—plan for a safe ride home.
*Stay hydrated, especially if you're spending time outdoors.
*Keep an eye on children around grills, fire pits, pools, and fireworks.
*If you're boating, always wear a properly fitted life jacket.

The members of the Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department wish you and your family a safe, happy, and memorable Labor Day. Thank you for your continued support of our department and for allowing us the privilege of serving this wonderful community.

Have a wonderful Labor Day and remember—we're always here when you need us.
