July 21, 2026

The station was alerted to a report of electric wires down across a road and into a ditch. Command 2 responded with Chief Pruitt, and Engine 203 responded with Assistant Chief Cavanaugh and two firefighters.

Upon arrival, Chief Pruitt established command and began investigating the situation. Engine 203 arrived shortly afterward, and Chief Pruitt ordered the closure of the roadway. Assistance was requested from law enforcement, Delmarva Power, and county roads.

The scene was determined to be extremely hazardous, and crews were unable to retrieve the utility pole number.

Units remained on location for approximately two hours, awaiting the arrival of Delmarva Power. After the utility company arrived, the roads stayed closed. Once it was determined that fire services were no longer needed, command was terminated and all units returned to quarters.

Units: Command 2, Engine 203
