National Safety Month, organized by the National Safety Council (NSC), has been observed every June since 1996. This initiative aims to prevent injuries and save lives through education and awareness campaigns.

National Safety Month emphasizes safety in all aspects of daily life, including workplaces, roads, homes, and recreational areas. It also addresses the importance of mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

The purpose of National Safety Month is to promote public awareness by highlighting important safety concerns. It helps individuals identify potential hazards in different environments.

Another key objective is reducing accidents and injuries. By educating the public about preventive measures, National Safety Month strives to lower the number of avoidable incidents at work, on the road, and at home.

This observance takes a holistic approach to safety, going beyond physical protection. It encompasses mental health, emotional well-being, and cybersecurity, providing a comprehensive view of safety.

National Safety Month often features weekly themes to guide awareness efforts:

Week 1 – Moving Safety Forward: Encourages a culture of safety in workplaces and communities, including National CPR and AED Awareness Week.

Week 2 – Staying Safe on the Roads: Focuses on driver safety, defensive driving, and reducing traffic-related incidents.

Week 3 – Promoting Holistic Worker Health: Highlights mental, physical, and emotional well-being to prevent fatigue and stress-related accidents.

Week 4 – Preventing Slips, Trips, and Falls: Addresses common hazards in workplaces and homes to reduce injuries.
